You Both Work & Together Time is Short–10 Quick Ways to Say I Love You
Together time is what all couples need and desire.
But when you both work, together time can be short.
Here are 10 quick tips to maximize together time and say ‘I love you’ when you haven’t got all day.
1. Say it with flowers
Do you know there is a whole ‘code’ for expressing your feelings through the language of flowers? Why not send each other a carefully composed bouquet and guess the meaning, along with inhaling the wonderful scent?
(Red carnation: ‘fascination’, white peony: ‘aphrodisiac’ – really!)
Together time in your mind! And don’t forget to continue the conversation with the next flower gift.
2. Prepare a meal in your absence
If you and your partner have different schedules, why not prepare breakfast for them in advance, or send them on a fun treasure hunt for a nice quick-fix dinner.
3. Tell a story
Start a story online. Words, pictures, emojis…
Take turns to continue the shared story, one image or paragraph at a time.
(It can be a naughty story too – just watch out for work rules)
4. Say it with music
Program a playlist of your ‘couple songs’ to play at a specific time. For both of you. Connect online and take a few minutes out to listen. Send each other a message at the end. This is together time, too. You are connected through your emotions.
5. Say it with music again
Call a local radio station to dedicate a song to your partner. Then alert them to the time, or program their phone. The whole world (or at least your local area) will know about your love! Music plus and together time plus.
6. Do it for them
Is there some chore your partner really dreads? Something they have been procrastinating about, something that, for some reason, they really really find difficult to accomplish?
Do it for them!
Let them know, either directly (wow, the wall is painted!) or indirectly (oh – I went to finally do this paperwork and I found it’s done!).
The time you spend doing this chore for them will give you both more together time, and your partner will be very happy. Also, who knows, you might get some secret help yourself.
7. Take it with you
Prepare a little surprise for your partner to take to work.
8. Say it with dress-up
Wear something your partner likes.
It could be the red dress he admired because it shows off your curves, or it could be the formal suit that makes him look so manly and mature. And of course, you could use this way of saying ‘I love you’ as a way of spicing up your together time in the bedroom, too.
9. Touch and innovate
Find a new way to touch each other – briefly, in public, when saying hello or goodbye.
Make it a fun game. Invent something new, but low key. If you want to take it further, award weekly prizes both ways and give each other a little present or reward.
You could develop a whole sequence of touch language signals, a delightful secret between the two of you.
10. Look at the stars
This is probably the oldest and most romantic tradition of creating together time while apart. Long ago, people sent each other letters from continent to continent. Letters that could take months to arrive. So, they chose a night and time when they would go outside and look at the same star. Very romantic!
Of course, now, you don’t have to wait for months. You can look at your designated love star every night, wherever you are. The stars will be out there for a long, long time. the universe is infinite, like your love.
Of course, together time can’t wait forever.
Make sure you create enough quality time for your relationship by creating a regular date night or a weekend retreat.
